Less-Waste Wrapping

It’s that time of year again! Gifts to buy, presents to wrap. Take some time today to plan differently so that your wrapping generates less garbage for the holidays. Below are some ideas to consider:

  • Reuse gift bags from previous years.

  • Wrap your gifts in holiday fabric. (We cut ours with pinking shears to reduce fraying.)

  • Use brown craft paper that can be recycled. Super easy to decorate with a sharpie!

  • Gift experiences instead of things. For something to open, wrap a picture frame and get a good selfie on your adventure!

  • Use twine or hemp to tie your gift, or add some natural materials as decoration. Think a sprig of evergreen, a pinecone, some lavender, or a twig from a crabapple tree.

Don’t get me wrong - wrapping presents is important! The act of unwrapping creates a feeling of euphoria and shows that you took some extra time to care. But some planning ahead can make the season a little less wasteful.
