Cold Autumn Nights

Here in southern Wisconsin, it’s finally starting to feel like fall. We pull on jackets and socks, see our breath in the evenings and early mornings, and revel in the warm sun of afternoon.

There’s nothing like these cold autumn nights to cozy up next to a fireplace, or even better, a bonfire outdoors. Take advantage of this time before the snow falls to explore without winter boots and enjoy the magic of the season. Take a deep breath. Fill your lungs with that cold air and enjoy the smells of the leaves as they fall around you.

The book for this week may not be completely related, but is definitely our favorite Halloween-time read aloud. Check out The Widow’s Broom by Chris Van Allsburg. It’s a delightfully magical book that will have your children making guesses as to what happens as each step of the story unfolds. Enjoy!
